Interment of German soldiers in Mirogoj Cemetery
On May 26, 2023, the remains of 300 German soldiers from World War II were buried in great secrecy in Mirogoj. It is believed that they were captured German soldiers killed by Tito’s Partisans near Samobor, where they had been buried in a pit from which they were exhumed. The funeral took place in the utmost secrecy, not a single media was informed about it, as far as we know, not even a priest was invited to the funeral. Our follower, who was officially present at this funeral, sent photos and information about this event to our editorial office. We learned that the funeral was paid for by the German Commission for the War Graves, “Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge.”

Unfortunately, even today we live in a time of media censorship and concealment of information, which is unthinkable in a democratic society.
In Croatia there are the remains of 20,116 German soldiers from World War II, who were buried in 947 places throughout Croatia.
They are taken care of by the organization “Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge.” The plan is to transfer them gradually to four places: Mirogoj in Zagreb, the Vrapče Cemetery in Zagreb and the military cemeteries in Split and Pula. The commission is looking for about 10,000 more soldiers.
